The visual arts program at Episcopal emphasizes creative problem-solving through the production of artwork using various media. Faculty strive to foster new ways of seeing, competence in production, and an awareness of the context of art in our environment. On each campus, art studio facilities are equipped to provide instruction in many disciplines, including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and ceramics.

Upper School

On the Munnerlyn Campus, ceramics classes provide Upper School students the opportunity to prepare a portfolio for college application and evaluation for college credit on the national level. Ceramics & Sculpture 1 and 2 are year-long courses, introducing the student to hand-building techniques, and progressing to wheel-throwing. Firing and glazing methods are also presented.

Honors and Advanced Placement Ceramics & Sculpture are offered as year-long courses, with an emphasis on developing a cohesive body of work communicating meaningful ideas. These classes also provide students the opportunity to prepare a portfolio for college application and evaluation for college credit on the national level.
