There are many ways to be involved in choral singing at the Munnerlyn Campus! There is a Middle School Chorale class that is a year long elective for 7th and 8th grade students. This class serves as a training ground for High School chorus and no audition or experience are necessary. Concert Chorale is a class for 9th and 10th grade students that builds a strong foundation of music reading skills and part singing independence. Honors Chorale class, for juniors and seniors, is the advanced ensemble. The ability to read music and interpret it with sensitivity is required at this level. Students in all classes perform all different genres of music, including classical, world music, musical theatre, jazz, and pop.

There are two main performance opportunities – the Christmas concert at St. John’s Cathedral and the Spring Concert. The chorus occasionally sings at weekly Chapel services, for additional programs on campus, and throughout the community. The group performs for visiting elementary students, at elder care facilities, and even the Jacksonville airport during the holidays.

In addition to choir classes, students may participate in extracurricular ensembles that meet during activities. Treble and Men’s Ensemble are non-auditioned ensembles for students who sing in either the treble or bass ranges respectively. All students are welcome to join and perform with the chorus classes at the concert. Music for a Cause is a music service club that also meets during the school day. It is a student-led club that uses music to serve others; whether we sing to raise money for a chosen cause or sing to serve the audience. Students receive service hours for participating in Music for a Cause.
