Visual Arts Students Experience Screen Printing, Welcome Guest Artist

Last year, the Visual Arts Department received a Parents’ Association Angel Award to purchase a four-color press and flash curer, as well as other tools so that screen printing could be incorporated in all curriculum. This technique, utilized significantly in printmaking, also crosses all of Fine Arts disciplines, from Middle to Upper School. Last week, Chris Sellen, an artist based in Jacksonville and Orlando, spent the day educating faculty and students on the process of screen printing. Chris has come to ESJ the last three-years to live screen print with students. This year was unique because he was able to instruct students on ESJ’s own equipment. “Fine Arts thanks FANS for funding the guest artist program that allowed Chris to teach on campus for the day,” said Katie Lebhar Black ’95, Interim Director of Fine Arts.
