New-Student Orientation

Welcome to Episcopal! To help you and your child feel at home and comfortable during the first few days of school, Episcopal hosts New-Student Orientation each year. This orientation will fill you in on everything you need to know about our School before you begin classes.

All students

  • Learning how to follow Episcopal's rotating schedules

Middle School students

  • Practicing opening lockers
  • Exploring campus
  • Meeting homeroom teachers (advisors)

Upper School students

  • Introduction to the computer lab
  • Library orientation
  • Athletics and Fine Arts information
  • Community Service information
  • College Counseling orientation

Orientation this year is scheduled for Friday, August 19; check-in is at 8:30 a.m. in the Munnerlyn Center. Shortly after, students will follow orientation leaders (Episcopal student volunteers) for a campus tour and information session, while parents partake in parent-oriented sessions hosted by the Episcopal Parents' Association.

Friday, August 19 
8:30 a.m. Check-in begins in the Munnerlyn Center.
9:00 a.m. New-Student Orientation begins in the Munnerlyn Theater.
9:20 a.m. New-Student Orientation activities begin with assistance from faculty and student volunteers.
9:30 a.m. New-parent reception hosted by the Parents' Association.
10:30 a.m. Sixth-grade orientation activities conclude. These students may be picked up in the Davis Chapel in the Munnerlyn Center.
11:45 a.m. Tenth- through twelfth-grade students dismissed.  These students may be picked up at the Munnerlyn Center.
11:45 a.m. New ninth-grade student lunch at the College Counseling Office
11:55 a.m. Closing program for seventh- and eighth-grade new students in the Munnerlyn Theater
12:15 p.m. Orientation program concludes for seventh- and eighth-grade new students. Students may be picked up in the Munnerlyn Theater or on the Munnerlyn Center patio.
12:30 p.m. Freshman Orientation Adventure Meeting.  All Freshmen who will be going on this trip are required to attend.
3:15 p.m. Ninth-grade students may be picked up at the Upper School circle

Some helpful suggestions:

  • Dress comfortably for orientation, however school-appropriate attire is required. Appropriate attire includes collared shirts, shorts of an appropriate length, and jeans. Flip-flops are not allowed.
  • Since photo IDs will  be made during orientation, boys' haircuts should follow dress-code guidelines.
  • If you have not already mailed all medical forms and permission slips back to the School, please bring them to registration. In accordance with state law, students will not be allowed to begin classes without completed immunization records.
