Beaches Campus - Cordell Library and Innovation Center

A state-of-the-art media center and library for Pre-K 4 through fifth-grade students provides them with interactive and highly regarded technology opportunities for STEAM development.

Students use the media center for writing computer code, participating in robotics, and enhanced classroom lessons. They learn how to type well-formatted assignments and papers coordinated with the classroom teachers. Students also learn the ethical and societal issues related to technology, and how to practice responsible use of technology systems.

Professional library staff also assist students with selecting age-appropriate materials and enrich learning through programming dedicated to building reading skills. A wide variety of books are available for students to read in the space or bring back to the classroom or to their homes for a period of time. Library and media are part of the campus’s multiple enrichment opportunities.

St. Mark’s Campus Steve Williams Library and Childress Innovation Lab

The St. Mark’s Campus library is an essential part of the educational program and resources available for students in Pre-K 3 - fifth grade. Under the guidance of a full-time librarian, students use the library for research as part of academic instruction, and for building reading skills. Students are instructed in library and research skills in an enriching environment that fosters literature appreciation. Students are encouraged to check out books to enjoy at home or in the classroom or to enjoy in the reading loft, or story time nook. They are exposed to visiting authors and their works and to a variety of literary genres.

Computers for online catalog look-up help students learn effective research skills. Students are enabled to locate and critically evaluate information, access the resources of the library appropriately, and develop their technology skills under close supervision.

Munnerlyn Campus - The Jacob F. Bryan III Library

On the Munnerlyn Campus, our professional library staff provides students in grades six through twelve with support for academic work, including research skills, database use, software issues, and more. The library staff also provides access to and recommendations for recreational reading materials from our extensive collection of fiction and nonfiction books, ebooks, and audiobooks. The library is open to students from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on regular school days.

The Jacob F. Bryan III Library opened in the fall of the 1991-1992 school year and underwent extensive renovations in 2016 as part of the school's Lead the Way Capital Campaign. The library houses a state of the art learning center with three computer labs, a STEM lab, a student and alumni art gallery, and spaces for students to collaborate on assignments. Its exceptional facilities are the best in the region for secondary schools.
