On To A New Nest

Will we finally know where the Class of 2018 is heading off to?
These past few months have been ones full of enlightenment for our upcoming graduates. Colleges have begun to release their decisions, consequently giving the Class of 2018 a chance to finally start the decision-making process.
Seven scholar-athletes. Seven new nests to fly to. Seven seniors making the commitment to continue their athletic and scholastic careers at the collegiate level. While many more hopefuls are sure to sign in the coming months before graduation, those who have made their decisions were recognized during the National Signing Day ceremony held in the Semmes Gym. These eagles are headed off to do great things for their respective programs of Boys’ Lacrosse, Volleyball, Rowing, Baseball, Softball, and Triathlon. This ceremony, while it recognized these seven athletes, also paid homage to the senior captains for the winter sports programs and celebrated their achievements throughout the season.
As for the rest of us, however, decisions are still being made. The atmosphere in the senior locker bay shifts on a daily basis from heartbroken to overjoyed; but in the end, we all remember that we will end up exactly where we are meant to be. So as the countdown begins to graduation, the decisions become more clear, and enrollment deposits start to be paid, we can only hope the best for our graduating class and that they find exactly what they are looking for. The nests that they will fly to will be the ones where they can make the biggest impact.
Only 91 days left, and we are going to make the most of them. With grad bash on the horizon and special senior, dress-down days (as well as a few other surprises) in the works, it should make for a truly unforgettable last semester at ESJ.
