Parents of 9th Graders -
The Freshman Orientation Adventure to Helen, Georgia is just a couple weeks away. Counselors and teachers are getting the gear assembled and making the final plans. The high water levels in the Chattooga River will certainly ensure exciting and memorable whitewater rafting adventures!
I hope that your son or daughter has a pair of hiking boots that they have been wearing. By breaking in the boots weeks before the trip, they are less likely to get blisters. Students should wear their boots to the pre-trip orientation meeting on Monday, August 13 from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. in the Munnerlyn Center. Attendance at that meeting is required for all 9th graders.
On Tuesday, August 14, they will attend a full day of classes. On Wednesday, August 15 they should arrive at school at 5:30 a.m. to board the bus for Georgia.

If your child has medication that they need to bring on the trip, there are two options. Your child can handle the medication themselves or a teacher will hold onto the medication and give it to your child at the appropriate times. Either way, we would like to know what medication your child will be taking. The form above should be completed, put in a ziplock bag, and then given to the teacher in charge of your child's bus. Instructions are on the form. At the camp and in the buses there will be a supply of common over-the-counter medications for the students, if the need arises. Those items include, but are not limited to, Tylenol, Advil, cough drops, Tums, Nyquil, Dramamine and first aid ointment. There will be refrigeration available if required.
