Seventh Graders Visit Kennedy Space Center March 14

Our seventh grade students will be traveling to Kennedy Space Center (KSC) on Thursday, March 14, 2019. This experience utilizes the outstanding resources available at KSC and provides onsite demonstrations to support our curriculum.

While there, students will be able to tour the launch facilities and launch pads; the Saturn V Center, which focuses on the Apollo missions; and the Atlantis Experience, where students can learn about the development and implementation of the Shuttle Missions. They may also have the opportunity to ride the “Shuttle Launch Experience,” a space shuttle simulator.

Students will be placed in small groups and chaperoned by their Middle School instructors. Below is an outline of the schedule for the day:


6:00 a.m. – Departure from Upper School Drop-off
8:30 a.m. – Check-in at Kennedy Space Center
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Exploration of Visitor Center
12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Buffet Lunch with an Astronaut
1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Discovering the Space Center
3:45 p.m. – Load Buses
4:00 p.m. – Departure
6:30 p.m. – Estimated Arrival at ESJ

The cost for this trip is $75.00 and has been billed by the Business Office. The cost of the trip includes transportation by coach, a buffet lunch with an astronaut, and admission to the Kennedy Space Center. Students will not need money while at the Kennedy Space Center, but they may choose to bring money for additional snacks or for the optional purchase of any souvenirs from KSC.
