Girls Rowing Wins at State Sculling Championships

On Saturday, Girls Rowing took eight athletes to the State Sculling Championships in Sarasota to compete in five different categories against schools and clubs.  All five boats were the highest placing Scholastic entry, winning Scholastic titles and earning the Florida bid to Scholastic Nationals.
Varsity Single: First overall and Scholastic — Allie Alton ’21
Varsity Double: Third overall and first Scholastic  — Emilee Podvia ’21 and Bradlie Hicks ’23
Varsity Lightweight Single: Fourth overall, first Scholastic — Reilly Shapiro ’22
Varsity Lightweight Double: Seventh overall, first Scholastic — Jordan Harrow ’21 and Lexy Shalley ’21
Freshmen Double: Sixth overall, first Scholastic — Sarah Barringer ’24 and Finley Johns ’24
The teams will race again in two weeks in the State Sweep Rowing Championships in Sarasota.
In sculling, each rowers has two oars, while in sweep each rower has one oar.
