First Grade Shares Sea Animal Projects

First graders proudly displayed their studies of sea animals for their families by transforming the Lori Schiavone Commons into an underwater ocean experience on Thursday. Each student selected a sea animal and then researched its features, habitats, life cycles, food chains, and interesting facts. They created a script using their facts and illustrated pictures to accompany their information.

Students then worked with Ms. Chitwood, Innovation Teacher, to create a video slideshow, which was showcased at the presentation. Other classroom projects included writing clever “house rules,” haiku and diamante poems about their sea animals, and more. In Art with Mrs. Alexander first graders made seahorse artwork as well as a beautiful clay jellyfish. At home, students created a shoebox diorama depicting their creature’s habitat.

A highlight of their studies was a special learning trip to Marineland earlier this spring.
