CTP 5 Standardized Testing

The CTP 5 standardized test will be given to students in Grades 2-5 the week of April 8-12.  The test will be administered each morning, and each day’s component will be finished by 10:00 am.  The test will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. and there will be no admittance to class once proctored test has begun.  Students will be asked to wait in the front office until testing is finished for the day. Please remember, the CTP is one of many forms of assessments and it reflects part of a child’s overall academic achievement. It allows us to gather general data about achievement so that teachers are able to adjust instruction to meet the needs of the overall class as well as individual students. Students are not expected to master the content of the CTP 5 to the extent they are expected to master class content as the test is used to compare content-specific knowledge to conceptual knowledge. It covers the areas of reading, listening, vocabulary, writing, and math, as well as verbal and quantitative reasoning.

Please be sure your child gets plenty of rest during standardized testing week, and please be extra mindful of enforcing healthy habits at home so students are able to perform optimally. It is most helpful when a child’s scores reflect achievement as authentically as possible.
