The Cheerleading Program is made up of a Middle School team, a Junior Varsity team, and a Varsity team. Episcopal Varsity Cheerleading team is an integral part of promoting school spirit. These young ladies also serve as Episcopal ambassadors to the community by volunteering each year for Buddy Walk, breast cancer walks, and charity drives such as the H.O.O.I. orphanages and the Donna Hicken Foundation. In addition to working hard on the sidelines and at pep rallies, Varsity Cheerleading has earned two District titles for competitive cheer. The Cheerleading Program is under the direction of Coach Dani Frei.
About the Coach
Dani Frei is in her first year as program director of cheerleading at ESJ. She started at ESJ six years ago as the JV cheer coach, served as assistant varsity coach, and is now looking forward to her role as head coach and program director. She has been involved with dance and cheerleading her entire life and was on the dance team at the University of North Florida. Her favorite aspect of cheerleading now the dance and stunting portions, but more importantly the confidence it instills in our athletes. She also is the proud coach of the STARZ dance team with the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville. When she is not coaching, she works at a nonprofit for people with disabilities and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in public administration.
