The Swimming Program consists of Boys and Girls Varsity teams, each open to sixth through twelfth graders. The teams use the Aquatic Center for their practices and home meets. The Program Director for swimming is Coach Martin Zubero. Coach Zubero won Olympic Gold in the 1992 Olympics and is a member of the University of Florida Athletics Hall of Fame. The swim program is one of the most decorated programs in the Athletic Department – boasting several individual State Championships as well as the team’s 1976 National Championship.
About the Coach
Martin Zubero has been coaching for 20 years. He has been a part of the Episcopal family for the past three years as the head varsity swim coach and program director. Prior to joining Episcopal, Coach Zubero was an assistant for The Bolles School. Coach Zubero swam at the University of Florida where he received the NCAA Swimmer of the Year award (1991) as well as the SEC Swimmer of the Year award(1990 and 1991). Coach Zubero is a world record holder for the 200-meter backstroke and is also a two-time World Champion and an Olympic Gold Medalist (Barcelona, 1992).
