Track & Field Program
The Track & Field Program is open to sixth through twelfth-grade students with a roster typically of 80-90 athletes. Although the Middle School athletes have age-specific meets, they may - and often do - compete in the Upper School meets as the opportunity arises and performance level indicates. The Track & Field Program practices and competes at the Dan R. Langford Track.
The ESJ Track & Field Team gives students the opportunity to be coached and instructed by some of the most knowledgeable, committed, and highly respected coaches in the state. The Episcopal Track & Field Team has a long, proud tradition of excellence with many individual State Champions and a girls’ team State Championship in 2007.
The Track & Field Program is led by longtime Episcopal Coach and Program Director Charlie Hunt.
About the Coach
Charlie Hunt has been at Episcopal for 36 years, which makes him the longest tenured coach at ESJ. He is the track program director and an assistant football coach. Coach Hunt played football collegiately at Florida State University, where he had a very successful career. Coach Hunt was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and finished his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Once of Coach Hunt’s best accolades is that he was one of the first four African American varsity football players at Florida State University. In 2016, Coach Hunt was honored at Episcopal with the new naming of the football field, Pajic-Hunt Field.
