Friday Morning 9GOA Update

This morning at breakfast fresh Georgia peaches were served with the oatmeal, bagels, muffins and cold cereal. Campers and counselors who went to Smithgall Woods yesterday are rafting today, and students who were rafting yesterday are at Smithgall Woods today. The streams and river are clear and cool. We are all looking forward to the senior skits at the campfire this evening.

Thursday Update

Thursday Update from 9GOA: The weather was sunny and warm as the 9th graders and their counselors found critters in Duke’s Creek, hiked the Smithcreek Trail and whitewater rafted the Chattooga River. All are safe and sound at the campground this evening. Continue Reading

Friday, 3 p.m. Update -Ranger Bob starts a fire by friction, to the amazement of students. Numerous critters were found and identified at Smithcreek Conservation Area. Deer have been spotted along the roadsides, but no bear to be seen. The senior skits were hilarious! Continue Reading

Thursday Morning Update

Thursday – 7:40 a.m. – Update from the Freshmen Orientation Adventure: The buses safely arrived on Wednesday. Students settled into their tents, wrote group contracts and enjoyed a nacho dinner. Tents are Up, Students Arrive Today

This is the 25th Freshmen Orientation Adventure in Unicoi State Park in Georgia. The 9GOA team set up 36 tents at the park on Tuesday in anticipation of the students’ arrival this afternoon.
